January at St Christopher’s

Our first Headmaster’s Above and Beyond Award was also presented, recognising a Lower School pupil’s outstanding commitment to reading.

January has been a brilliant start to the year at St Christopher’s, full of energy, creativity and plenty to be proud of.

Across the school, pupils have thrown themselves into a rich and inspiring curriculum. From hands-on digital design using Tinkercad to thoughtful problem-solving in the classroom, learning has felt purposeful and exciting from the very first week back.

Our Reception children have been busy showing off their growing confidence, using phonics to write independently about The Gruffalo and exploring learning through sensory activities that support calm, focus and wellbeing. There’s a real buzz as our youngest learners settle happily into school life.

Wellbeing has remained a strong focus this month, with mindful moments woven into the day to help pupils pause, reflect and build resilience alongside their academic learning.

We’ve also celebrated some wonderful achievements. One of our pupils represented their team at the Devon County Inter Club Championships, bringing home silver and gold medals in a fiercely competitive event. Our first Headmaster’s Above and Beyond Award was also presented, recognising a Lower School pupil’s outstanding commitment to reading.

Beyond the classroom, KS2 pupils enjoyed an inspiring visit to the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s Schools Concert, where they explored the four elements through music, movement and performance, even joining in with the orchestra themselves.

And when the Devon weather did what it does best, outdoor play simply shifted indoors, with chess boards out, minds engaged and learning continuing in a different way.

It’s been a lively, encouraging start to 2026, and a lovely reminder of the confidence, curiosity and enthusiasm that run through every part of school life at St Christopher’s.
