Prep 3

NOTICE BOARD

Dear parents and carers of children in Prep 3,

Welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a safe, restful summer holiday.

I have written this letter to introduce myself, welcome you and your children into Prep 3 and tell you a little bit about how the day runs and the expectations I have for the children. I am really looking forward to getting this year underway. As you know, this is my second year at the school and I look forward to meeting you all. Please come and see me if there is anything you want to discuss. I hope that you and your children enjoy the new challenges and approaches to learning that Prep 3 has to offer!

When children arrive at school they will come into school from the front gate, place bags on their pegs (games kits to go on these pegs too) and put prep diaries in the Prep Diary box. Once ready, children will come into class where their morning work will wait for them. Children will come straight into this class this term once they have been dropped off. The end of the school day will run as it did before the Summer Holidays, where each class will have their allotted time to be picked up.

As regards to Prep, reading and spellings, your children will be given their prep diaries (hopefully these will be given out by Wednesday 11th Sept) which will contain their work and a timetable of what prep they will receive on which night. Prep will take no more than 30mins and should be done on the night and handed in the following day. If it is not possible to do the prep that evening please come and see me or include a short note. The diaries will also be used to log their reading. Reading is essential for your child’s academic performance and it is important we continue to read as often as possible at home and school and really encourage the enjoyment of reading. If you hear your child read at home please make a note in their book, not the page they have read to and sign it. Please note that I will try to get reading books out by at least Tuesday 10th.

Spellings tests will be every week on Thursdays. I will hand out the first spellings this week and the children will bring home a spelling sheet on which they can practise.

Any letters or reply slips, which need to be returned, can be put in your child’s bag. The children are encouraged to check them each morning and give things in after the register.

The children will need to bring their own water bottle to keep in class which they can access throughout the day and they will change their water regularly. Please make sure your child’s name is written clearly on their water bottle.

Please name everything that your child brings to school, I will be keeping a class lost property box so if there is anything left wondering the class at the end of the day that is the place it’s likely to be.

Please feel free to come and talk to me at any time after school if there is a school base worry or question – no matter how small.

Once again I hope you’ve had a nice summer and I am really looking forward to starting the new school year with you all.

Best regards,

Mr Lowden.
