Last week was fabulous at St Christopher’s Prep School and Nursery, an independent school in Staverton, near Totnes.
We started off remembering our fabulous Apple Week, when pupils learnt all about different apple varieties and how they grow. Our Lower School children enjoyed a wonderful trip to Mrs Kenyon’s orchard, where they collected apples ready for Apple Day. The whole school then joined in an apple-themed carousel of activities, from Nursery through to Year 6.
Next came Wheely Wednesday, when children brought in their bikes, scooters, and ride-ons. The playground was filled with laughter. From our youngest nursery children to Year 6 pupils, and even a few enthusiastic teachers, everyone joined in and had an absolute blast. It was such a success it’s now firmly on our weekly timetable.
To round off the week, Prep 5 and 6 took their science studies to the next level with a fascinating heart dissection, learning about the circulation system in a hands-on and memorable way. Definitely not for the faint-hearted, this practical experience was a wonderful way to learn about the heart, and it looks like we have some future doctors and nurses among our pupils, such was their enthusiasm!
It’s been such a lovely week, with warm October weather, the incredible autumnal colours of the trees, and a week of learning that captured the heart of St Christopher’s Prep School and Nursery, full of curiosity, creativity, and community.
