Fractions!
In maths today Prep 2 have been finding fractions of amounts. Mrs Edwards found sharing out her bag of fruity chews a great motivator – and the children definitely understood how to find half, a quarter or a third of the packet!
Lower School Poetry Assembly
This morning the lower school (Nursery to Prep 2) took to the stage to present their poems on the Olympics. It’s fantastic to see the children reciting their poems so confidently.
Switches
This afternoon Prep 4 have been learning about electricity in their science lesson. The class spent time learning about switches and testing them.
Devon Schools Table Tennis
We took a squad of nine players to the Devon schools individual table tennis championships this week. All of the players were able to win some of their matches with a couple just missing out on qualifying from their group. Sacha, Indie Rose and Lottie got through to the knockout stages with the latter two…
Money Money Money!
In Prep 2 this morning we have been making amounts of money using three coins, speculating whether larger amounts of money can be made in more ways or not. We are hoping to consolidate skills in finding totals using a combination of coins, making and testing predictions and work systematically! Look at the concentration!!
Under 11’s ISA SW Football
Today our Under 11’s have been to Cornwall to take part in the Under 11’s tournament at St Joseph’s School. They had a great time and competed well against the six other schools.
Stretching Materials
In Prep 2 the children have designed their own fair tests to find out about stretching materials. We started by blowing up some balloons and were shocked to discover that if you put in too much air they do not return to their original shape! We then attached bags of marbles to samples of different…
Wet Play
Prep 2 had a fun today during wet play with their chin puppets!
Prep 2 Addition
Today in Prep 2 we have been investigating addition – using up to 5 single digit numbers to create totals. It has been lots of fun!
Anglo Saxon Clothes
This week Prep 3 are learning all about Anglo Saxons and the clothing they wore. The children have discovered that natural resources were used to dye their clothes. This afternoon Prep 3 have been using natural resources (red cabbage & turmeric) to practice dyeing t-shirts!
