In yesterdays woodland club, Preps 3 & 4 were challenged to make rafts out of natural items which had to float well enough to keep a small puppet dry! Some interesting rafts were constructed with various levels of success!!
A fantastic way to end the Summer half-term with some poems about food. The children all did a great job to learn their poems. Prep 6 ended their final poetry assembly at St Christopher’s by getting the whole school to join in with the song (made famous by Mr Lewis) “Spaghetti and Meatballs”, very well done!
This week we found out that of 35 of our children (that’s almost 1/2 of our School) that took the LAMDA exams all achieved a grade of Merit or Distinction. This is a fantastic result and shows the dedication of the teaching staff and the pupils to achieve such a high level.
Hannah was excited this morning to ride her horse Pearl to School this morning. It’s always lovely for the Children to show off their animals!
On Monday the lower school (Nursery to Prep 2) got a chance to read the poems they have been learning to friends, family and the whole school during assembly. All the children did exceptionally well and seemed to enjoy the chance to perform!
During Enrichment Week Prep 1 spent Friday down at the Soundart Radio studio in Dartington. The children couldn’t wait to take part in the follow up day working on the recordings we had made at school when the radio team visited us last term. Wet weather didn’t dampen our sense of adventure this week with two exciting days of forest school. We learnt so much and got to explore Mrs Cleave’s farm, learning to light a fire, then roasting popcorn and marshmallows – delicious! Prep 4 enjoyed their first residential away at the Start Bay Centre in Slapton. They completed a low ropes course, learnt about Operation Tiger, walked around Slapton Ley and enjoyed playing some games at the beach.
Prep 5 had a great 2 nights away at YHA Coverack. They spent time enjoying the beautiful sights of Cornwall as well as BF Adventures and cycling at Lanhydrock.
On the final day of Enrichment Week Preps 2 & 4 have been on a small hike around Houndtor. It was a fantastic chance for the children to experience beautiful Dartmoor, learn about the rock formations and visit a medieval town!
The inviting Nursery setting at St Christopher’s has a dedicated indoor and outdoor space, in the heart of the school. Children from the age of rising three can take advantage of the numerous opportunities, facilities, activities and resources on offer in beautiful surroundings.

This afternoon saw the annual St Christopher’s Conker competition. After some great play St Andrew were the champion!!
Prep 1 and 2 had a fantastic day at Paignton Zoo learning all about the different animals. They also enjoyed a workshop where the zoo educators delivered an exciting, curriculum-linked workshop designed to get the children engaged in the natural world.
